Why should I thank God?

May 22, 2012

Why should I thank God? I thank God for creation. For the wonderful moon, the beautiful stars, the vibrant sun. I thank God for the night sky, and the daylight. I thank God for the breathtaking views of both ocean and landforms, and even the magnificent sky, with the clouds as embellishments. I thank God for the birds that fly high up in the sky. I thank God for the fish that swim in the sea, the coral reefs that serve us home to these fish. I thank God for the sweet smell of flowers which beautify the lands, for the plants that bear fruit and the trees that give us shade. I thank God for every small or grand thing in nature. I thank God for Creation.

Why should I thank God? I thank God for the people He used both in the Old and New Testament. I thank God for saving Noah from the great flood. I thank God for promising Abraham to have children as many as the stars and as countless as the grains of the sand. I thank God for Jacob and Esau, for Joseph and the twelve tribes. I thank God for Moses and His obedience to God. I thank God for all the prophets he used to speak to the people, and to do what His plan was to His people. I thank God for Mary and Joseph, for Elizabeth and her son John the Baptist. I thank God for sending His Son, and for His twelve disciples. I thank God for changing Saul’s life, later on becoming Paul, the greatest missionary. I thank God for the people He used both in the Old and New Testament.

Why should I thank God? I thank God for the Bible. I thank God for every word that comes from the Bible. I thank God for using people since time immemorial to write what transpired. I thank God for the wisdom He gives us through His word. I thank God for the comfort He makes us feel whenever we’re alone. I thank God for the way He speaks with us through our daily devotions, when we read His word. I thank God for the reminders He gives us when we hear His word being preached in church. I thank God for using wise people, and for guiding them to teach His word to us. I thank God for giving us His word. I thank God for the Bible.

Why should I thank God? I thank God for the people He has blessed my life with. I thank God for friends and family. I thank God for my Mom and Dad, my Sister and my relatives. I thank God for Pastor Jun and his family. I thank God for other pastors and other churches. I thank God for friends, both Christian and non-Christian, because they, in one way or another, contributed to strengthening my faith in God. I thank God for the musicians, the hymnists, the composers, who I have come to know since I trusted fully in Him. I thank God for their wonderful contribution in my relationship with Him. I thank God for letting me know them, thus encouraging me to continue what I have started. I thank God for the people He has blessed my life with.

Why should I thank God? I thank God for His blessings. I thank God for always supplying our needs according to His riches in glory. I thank God for music, for the wonderful  song He has put in my soul. I thank God for all kinds of blessings: material, financial, emotional, physical, but most of all spiritual. I thank God for never abandoning me. I thank God for the gift of friendship, of love and hope. I thank God for the patience He has blessed me with. I thank God for trials and sorrows, for having my heart broken at times, because through this, I know He taught me a lesson or two. I thank God for every heartache, because I know with every sudden change that happens, there’s a reason behind it. I thank God for the hope of a new day each break of dawn. I thank God for all the love He has made me feel. I thank God for His blessings.

Why should I thank God? I thank God for salvation. I thank God for sending His only begotten Son into the world, that whosoever might believe in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life. I thank God for the forgiveness of sins. I thank God for letting me hear the gospel, that one sunny day in April 2002. I thank God for the assurance of salvation. I thank God for the revival whenever I feel discouraged. I thank God for always letting me renew my commitment in Him. I thank God for using me in different ministries. I thank God for the wonderful joy in serving Him. I thank God for being a blessing to other people’s lives. I thank God for giving me the strength and the motivation never to give up. I thank God for the wonderful hope of an eternal life with Him. I thank God for salvation.

Why should I thank God? I thank God because in our world right now, full of worldliness and chaos, full of doubts and unbelief in Him, I know, He is there. I thank God because He never left, never has and never will. I thank God because He never stopped working in my life and in other people’s lives. I thank God for giving me faith, hope and love amidst all that is happening in the world today. I thank God for being my best friend. I thank God for a closer relationship with Him. I thank God for quiet time, and for hearing my prayers. I thank God for everything. I thank God for letting me know Him. I thank God for changing my life, and working in me. I thank God because in our world right now, full of worldliness and chaos, full of doubts and unbelief in Him, I know, He is there.

The list goes on and on, as endless as His love. With all God’s greatness and mercy, with all that He has done, tell me, why should I not thank God?

There is so much to be thankful for. He’s is just, loving, and always there for us.”I thank God because in our world right now, full of worldliness and chaos, full of doubts and unbelief in Him, I know, He is there.”
