I’ve never been to any other country aside from the Philippines.
I told myself that if I will be given the chance to travel, I’ll explore my own country first before going out of it. But a girl can dream right? Lately, I’ve been having this overwhelming wanderlust. Problem is, I have no enough money to splurge on the idea and I have more important things to attend to right now. Basing on my bucketlist and my childhood dreams, I came up with a list of 10 places I would really like to visit around the world. I know these places can wait. I have to save up first so every experience in each place will really be worth it.
The very main reason why I want to go to Thailand is to see these floating lanterns in person. It’s called the Yi Peng Festival and it’s held annually usually on November. I got engrossed with the idea of floating lanterns because of Tangled. To my surprise, that scene on the river was actually based from the Yi Peng festival in Thailand. I do hope that I get to witness it, be there and feel what there is to feel. That’s one of my biggest dreams that I hope would be fulfilled.
Truly Asia *insert my singing voice here* I kid! I actually had no interest in Malaysia before. But because of our new found friends from Malaysia during our NICE2013 experience, I got interested in the country. I do hope that come October, I have saved up enough money for WHEN Malaysia. That would be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
Oh, the Big Ben. What awe would flow through my veins being awaken by the Big Ben’s “BONG! BONG! BONG!”. There’s just too much in London that I have learned to love even if I haven’t been there yet. The people, the places and other things too.
I’ve dreamt of Italy since I was a child. As young as I was, I thought this side of Italy was very romantic. You know, when a couple from a romantic movie goes on a date and the guy rows the boat for the girl or something of that sort. I want to see more places in Italy, taste more food and feel the Italian vibe (if there’s even such a thing. Lol. )
Who doesn’t dream of Paris? I think everyone else does, but if not, I believe every girl does. But I think my reason/s would be different from the usual. Most of the girls in the world dream to be in Paris because it is included in the top four fashion capitals in the world (alongside with London, New York and Milan.) I just want to see the Eiffel Tower in person and a lot of other sceneries.
I’ve had this fetish for Chinese things when I was in highschool. I even bought a “Learn How To Speak In Mandarin” book for my own but failed to actually learn a lot from it. There’s something about the Chinese culture that actually amazes me. How they go about with traditions and how they strive hard to maintain their culture while the rest of the world is slowly being westernized because of globalization. And of course, who wouldn’t want to see The Great Wall of China.
There’s just something inside of me that wants to visit Spain. My great grandparents from my Mum’s side are pure Spanish as far as I know. And my great grandparents from my Dada’s side also have strong Spanish blood. I just want to see and discover more things in Spain than those which I’ve seen in telenovelas.
I actually had no interest in Greece at first. Yes, I know Greece because of world literature discussions back when I was still in high school, but never did it cross my mind to visit that place. It all changed though when I finished the movie Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants.
New York. Not because of the fashion, the fame and others, but because I just want to see the Statue of Liberty in person. I think if I were to go to NY just for a day just to see the famous statue, that would be more than enough. Am I cray? Well, not.
Singapore, Singapore, Singapore. When I entered in college, I told myself that once I graduate, I will finish all needed papers and immediately leave for Singapore and work there. But things change, and we don’t have our own fate in our hands, it still depends on what God has planned for us. Nevertheless, I would still like to see the Merlion in person and go to other tourist spots in Singapore.
I’m not really after the perks of being in that place, but rather gaining experience, feeling new things and seeing those dreams come to life. Well, I hope I can visit all these places while I’m still alive (because saying I hope to visit these places before I die sounds a bit of for me. 🙂 ) and this blog will be my witness to that.
Hoping for the best!
