Last week, I watched a movie entitled Letters to God. It’s about a 10-year old boy named Tyler Doherty who has cancer and an admirable faith. Everyday, he wrote letters to God, put it in an envelope and sealed it with a stamp. He gave each letter to their street’s mailman to actually “bring it to God”. A lot of lives were changed because of what he did. Not only were their encouraged to write letters to God, but their faith was strengthened and they realized the importance of both God and prayer in their lives. After watching that movie, something within me wanted to start writing to God, too. I do pray everyday, but I was just inspired with Tyler’s way of talking to God. So I decided to have this Letters to God Project.
I plan to write everyday to God, whatever is in my heart every single day. I’ll be using this very pricey journal I bought last month. I just realized tonight that I was saving this journal for something this special. I bought this without any purpose, just out of impulse, and voila, it was actually meant for this.
I won’t be posting the letters I’ll be writing because I know they will all be too personal. I just wanted to share what I came up with. I searched Google for letters to God people made and I stumbled upon a few pages which featured different letters from different children all around the world. I was encouraged more to take this idea into concrete action.
Starting tomorrow, I’ll be writing letters to God. Not that I’m saying that I’ll stop praying to Him because of these letters, but that I am doing something to strengthen my relationship more with Him.
Forasmuch as ye are manifestly declared to be the epistle of Christ ministered by us, written not with ink, but with the Spirit of the living God; not in tables of stone, but in fleshy tables of the heart. – 2 Corinthians 3:3
Well, I hope you’ll find time to watch the movie and be blessed the way I was. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll start writing your own letters to God too! 🙂
