Scripture Sundays: Love, evil, and good

August 18, 2013

I’ve been really blessed the past week, although I’ve been experiencing a lot of personal struggles. I thank the Lord for giving me strength to carry on. Philippians 4:13 is forever my weapon. Anyway, I finished the book of Romans this week and started with 1 Corinthians (for Bible reading only). I picked out a short but meaningful verse out of my reading for this week!

Romans 12:9 is quite plain and simple and self-explanatory. First, we should love genuinely at all times. Best example would be God’s love for us that He gave us His Only Begotten Son to die for our sins so we can have eternal life. Most of us nowadays focus on love that’s too self-centered. We care too much about ourselves more than those we love. Genuine love, one that’s unconditional, doesn’t expect anything in return. Next, we should abhor, or simply hate that which is evil. Personally, I have struggles regarding this. It is easy to depart from the “major” evil, but if we give it a thought, when all the “minor” evil we have done be combined, it may be greater. Evil is still evil no matter how big or small it is. Lastly, we should cleave or hold fast to which is good. I think being firm to what is good nowadays is really difficult. People are too engrossed with pleasing others to the point of compromising their beliefs. I believe we should all examine ourselves and ask if we have been doing the same, too. It’s not too late to change, anyway.

I’m keeping this post short and quick but I hope you got something from it! I hope you guys will have a blessed week ahead of you! 🙂
