Citi x Bistro Ultimate Food Run [Part 2]

September 9, 2016

Last month, I wrote about a Food Run I attended that Zomato hosted featuring The Bisto Group x Citi. I’ve already included the first three restos in my last post. This time, I’m going to talk about the second half of those six restos we tried.

Like the first three, Watami and Texas Roadhouse’s food were served in Texas Roadhouse while we went to Village Tavern. So this time, I can tell you guys about my experience in dining in the actual places where the food was from.

By the way, there are 30% discounts for each resto. All promos are open for all Citibank Cardholders, whose credit or debit cards have been issued by Citibank, N.A., with no minimum or maximum spend required and is exclusive for dine-in only. Promo runs from August 15, 2016 – September 15, 2016!

Watami Salad (P255) is a mix of garden greens, tomatoes, grilled teriyaki chicken, fresh shrimp, crispy wonton chips, and special tuna mayo paste dressing. My tablemates told me that this tasted delicious (I wasn’t able to try it because I’m allergic to shrimps) and that it tasted different but in a good way.

I loved Watami’s Caesar Salad (P255) but the taste was just common for me. Aside from the usual greens and grilled chicken, it also had a hot spring egg on top of it which gave a twist to the common Caesar Salads that I have tried before.

I just realized that I wasn’t able to take a photo of the  Gyoza on Hot Pan (P255) but my taste buds were satisfied with it, honestly. The Gyoza was limited so I was fortunate enough to be able to taste one!

Texas Roadhouse

Can I just say how the Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad (P495) tasted so good? Among all the Caesar Salads served, this was my favorite! The chicken had much flavor that complemented the dressing of the salad as a whole. This salad consisted of grilled chicken served on crisp hearts of romaine, fresh parmesan cheese, made-from-scratch croutons, and zesty Caesar dressing. The chicken can also be substituted with grilled shrimp (P485).

Everybody in the table loved the Combo Appetizer (P525) that was served to us. It had Buffalo Wings (you can choose between bone-in and boneless), Rattlesnake bites, and Potato Skins. Their Buffalo Wings are fried golden brown chicken wings tossed in wing sauce (your choice whether you want it mild or hot) and is served with celery and bleu cheese. I’ve had my fair share of Buffalo Wings from various restaurants but Texas Roadhouse’s own version of it tasted good but just “okay” for me. As for the Rattlesnake bites, it had rounds of diced jalapenos and jack cheese, hand-battered and lightly fried and is served with Ranch dressing. I loved the crispiness of the Rattlesnake bites and the “chiliness” it left in my mouth.  Their Potato Skins are these cute little potato skins topped with cheddar cheese and bacon and served with sour cream.

Their Cactus Petals (P195) are Texas-sized onion petal portions that are golden-fried and served with Cajun Horseradish sauce. I have this photo of lovely basket of complimentary bread rolls which tasted really, and I mean really good, to make up for the photo-less plate of Cactus Petals! It was served hot which I think made it taste even better.

Village Tavern

Village Tavern’s Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad (P475) looked very delicious. I wasn’t able to taste it because as I’ve mentioned above, I’m allergic to shrimp, boohoo! It consisted of freshly cut romaine lettuce with taco seasoned shrimps, avocado, tomatoes, red onion, and nacho strips tossed in taco dressing.

The Habana Mexican Style Grilled Corn (P375) was the only food I got to try in Village Tavern! It was a corn on the cob with Mexican smear and Feta cheese. I loved the exotic taste of it and the kick of spices it had!

Like the Grilled Prawn Avocado Salad, I wasn’t able to try their Blackened Shrimp (P550) because of the same reason. My fellow Zomato foodies seemed to enjoy the Bayou cream sauce toasted garlic bread and grilled sourdough bread with it.

All in all, this experience really made me full (literally!!!) and paved the way for me to meet expert food reviewers from Zomato! I’m really looking forward to the next Food Run and I do hope I get to attend again.

Delicious looking foods! I think what I like is that they have vegetables. It’s a break from the usual Pinoy dish consisting of meat. Hope to see you in a Zomato meetup!
